Hawes and Curtis Shirt Design Competition Winner 2016
The Modern Businessman AW17/18
Hawes & Curtis was founded by two accomplished outfitters, Ralph Hawes and George Frederick Curtis, who opened the first store at 24 Piccadilly Arcade in February 1913. From the beginning the heritage brand has been acclaimed by aristocracy and Hollywood's elite. Notable customers have included the Duke of Windsor, Cary Grant, Clark Gable, Bing Crosby, Lord Mountbatten, Frank Sinatra and Fred Astaire.
As the winner of the Hawes and Curtis shirt design competition my business shirt has been featured in their A/W 2017-18 collection and was available to purchase online and in store for a full season. The concept behind this project was to create a shirt for the modern businessman who likes to look smart in the workplace whilst still feeling comfortable and relaxed.
This shirt includes 3 unique features that combine to make it the perfect shirt to wear both in and out of the boardroom.
This shirt includes 3 unique features that combine to make it the perfect shirt to wear both in and out of the boardroom.
- Wide back vent to allow for extra movement across the back.
- Watch holder manufactured into the shirt cuff.
- Underarm mesh fabric to increase ventilation in a warm office or party setting.
My aim was to design a comfortable classic shirt with a modern twist. A shirt that was both fashionable and practical.
